Pick something you really want to accomplish this year. Do you want to develop a new skill, put more money into your profit account, lose some weight, or maybe bring on some new clients? Now, identify the driver activity and simply track it. For a new skill it might be study time or practice time, for more profit it might be your margin percentage and sales volume, or controlling your overheads. To lose weight it would be getting more exercise or what you are putting in your mouth, and for new clients it might be the number of daily prospecting calls you make or how you make them.
The first step to making improvements is always awareness of what you want, and where you are at. What’s your point A and point B. Then you are in a position to identify what’s getting in your way and I’ll venture to guess it will have something to do with the little choices you are making or not making every day.
You figure that out by tracking it. And guess what? There’s an app for that. I use one on my I-phone called Trakr. First I pick what I want to track – like say I have a goal to increase my client base – so I need to do more prospecting. Then, I’d want to track the number of contacts I’m making (or not making) each day with people who I can help.
