Imagine how your world would be if you only made promises to yourself that you kept. There is no more essential or defining aspect to a person than their character. From the moment you get out of bed in the morning to the moment you go to sleep at night, your character is either complimented or compromised.
Character is comprised of those principles and values that give your life direction, meaning and depth. They constitute your inner sense of right and wrong. The greatest gift you can give yourself is to practice good character; the greatest gift you can give others is to model character. When it comes to practicing good character, saying no to vices isn’t simply enough. You cannot cultivate a healthy garden only by eliminating the weeds; you must also feed and nurture the flowers. The best way to build your character is to pursue the positive. Moving your goals forward, by committing to daily steps and habits, and honoring them again and again.
Remember – that every time you say you’re going to do something good and you do it – you are building character. Every time you take a step towards your goals you are building your character muscle. Every time that little voice in your head tells you to do “the right thing” and you honor it, you are building character.
Make character building a daily habit, and it will lead you to much success!
