The moment I open my eyes and become aware…I am already awake. I pause and feel the weight of my body pressing against the mattress, and sensing my surroundings I become present.
I quietly shift my focus to gratitude by picking something to be thankful for from my previous day. I whisper my choice aloud and follow with a simple grin, embracing the memory and taking a deep breath as I call back the feelings, to re live them for a second time.
Finally, remembering that my body has been lying dormant for the better part of the night, I’m careful not to shock it by moving too quickly (something my Chiropractor taught me). I begin to wake up each joint with gentle movements and roll lightly off the bed’s edge onto my feet.
I am now fully present in a state of gratitude with a body that’s ready for more. Try this simple 3 step technique for a month and make it a habit. You’ll be glad you did.
