Like many entrepreneurs – I’m a self-confessed idea guy! I can’t help it – I love ideas. But, I’ve learned that too many ideas can take me of my track and send me down endless rabbit holes.
So, when I heard someone say that the reason strategy is so important is because without it – every good idea is worth stopping to consider. With it – only a chosen few are. Specifically, the ideas that are in line with my current strategy are worthy of making time for. The others can be put on the “back burner”.
Here are some tips to consider:
Make sure you have a strategy – which is basically a game plan to get to your one year goals.
Filter new ideas that come to you past your strategy by asking “How does this relate to my current strategy?” If it doesn’t – capture the idea in a notebook and move on.
This sounds obvious but it bares mentioning – Stay focused and follow through to completion.
