Darren Hardy, the publisher of Success Magazine asks, “What if I put a 10 foot plank on the floor and asked you to walk across it for $20 bucks? Would you?” Of course right! It’s an easy $20 bucks.
“What then – if I put that same plank 30 feet in the air –would you still do it?” Maybe, but probably not!
“What about if you knew that on the other end of that plank was a burning building and your child was in there. Would you go then? Yes of course! It’s because the reason why something needs to get done changes things.
The reason we do something has to be compelling enough to vault us into action. If you’re procrastinating on something, or putting it off – chances are, your why isn’t strong enough, so take control and dial it up, by associating the task to an outcome that has crazy importance and meaning for you.
I’m going to create my call itinerary for next week because…. I want to send my daughter to University
I’m going to finish this report because….. It’s really going to help my client and I love to help my clients.
I’m going to get some exercise today because….. I don’t like my kids making fun of “fat dad”
Try it out this week on some simple things if it works (which it will) make it a habit.
