Practice will make you better, it will make your work more fun, and it will change your perspective on just about everything. When you get better at things – the way you feel about yourself and your work changes. The challenge for most is just becoming more aware of your performance, and reminding ourselves that we can get better at anything through shear repetition.
Whenever, we do something for the first time, we’re not very good at it, and this can lead to feelings of frustration, which cause us to give up. Nature never acts in haste, we have to remain patient with ourselves to get better, and we have to be practicing good fundamentals if we want our businesses to get better.
Good fundamentals in business would include things like:
- Reviewing your key numbers and drivers.
- Writing out your goals, and visualizing their success.
- Understanding sales and marketing principles.
- People reading.
- Empathic listening
- Scheduling your priorities.
A good coach creates an environment where his players practice fundamentals regularly. It’s not good enough to have good fundamentals if you want to have great results.
