Next time you find yourself in front of something scary, try this radical technique!
I recently bought a mountain bike for the trails around my home, and I can’t believe I didn’t do it sooner! I’ve quickly learned to relish the invigorating sense of freedom I get, grinding up the side of a hill and sailing down the winding trails, each connecting to another new experience. It’s really is magical!
I’m gradually getting more comfortable and trying new things. This past weekend, I found myself at the top of a fairly steep hill, paused and thinking, “no way”! Before, turning away in retreat, to favour the more friendly terrain to my left, I chose to re-frame. “If I take it slow, I can do this.” Excitement returned to my heart, now beating like a bass drum, giving me permission to take the slope, and the lessons that would meet me there.
What a rush!
